Hi, I am Franzi, founder of Confetti Gardens.
I am delighted to meet you!
Here's a little bit about my mission and what I’m up to...
I am a writer, illustrator, teacher and self-taught, passionate gardener.
As long as I can remember I have felt the most free and content when I was out in the countryside, away from the busy and hectic big city life where I lived for two thirds of my life.
In my early twenties I started teaching myself how to grow my own food and flowers from seed. I am continuously practicing natural organic farming techniques in flower and vegetable growing and I am committed to making the soil that I use healthy and sustainable.
I value and believe in a simple way of living alongside family, friends and nature and I see life as an opportunity, challenge and duty to also respect the resources of the space I live in. I care about the environment of our planet, sustainable ways of farming, and I'm committed in my mission to grow and preserve future-proof, organic heirloom plants.
In early 2016, I started by growing flowers and beans on the windowsill of my room in my shared student flat. Because I didn’t have a garden, I asked my friends and parents with allotments, whether I could take over a little bit of space in their gardens in order to grow biodiverse plants. I built up a network with like-minded people, continue to learn from them and am now on a mission with Confetti Gardens to inspire others to create biodiverse spaces and to grow and preserve pollinator friendly plants.
Now, four five years after having started growing plants on a tiny windowsill, I have a huge garden space where I spend every minute that I can, growing wild, edible, bee friendly flowers and colourful heirloom vegetables, herbs and fruit.
But you don’t need an acre of land – start with one square metre, like I did. It makes all the difference and is so, so, so rewarding.
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page. I look forward to connecting, sharing experiences and helping you get started with your very own biodiverse colorful garden plot. Hopefully I can inspire you on my blog to wanting to grow more flowers and veg.
If you have questions or requests, please message me! I would love to hear from you.
